TeraSender frequently asked questions

TeraSender is a large-file transfer service. You upload files, TeraSender gives you a shareable download link, and your recipient opens it in any browser — no account or software on their side. Single files can be up to 25 GB, with 1 TB of total storage on the Pro plan. Every link has an expiry date and can be password protected.

Sign in, drag your files into the upload area, choose an expiry date, optionally set a password, then press Send. TeraSender uploads the files and gives you a shareable download link. You can also enter recipient email addresses and TeraSender will email the link for you with an optional subject and message.

You need a free account to start a transfer of your own. The exception is vouchers: if someone sends you a TeraSender voucher link, you can upload files through it as a guest without registering at all.

No. TeraSender download links work for anyone who has the URL. The recipient opens the link in a browser and downloads directly — no sign-up, no app install. If you protected the transfer with a password, they need that password too.

Yes. The TeraSender Free plan costs $0 and covers up to 10 files and 10 GB of total storage, including encryption, expiring links and password protection. Pro costs $5 per month or $50 per year and raises the limits to 100 files and 1 TB.

Yes. TeraSender supports Google sign-in alongside standard email and password registration. Use whichever you prefer — both reach the same account features.

TeraSender's interface is available in 21 languages, including English, Bengali, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, German, Russian, Urdu, Thai, Indonesian, Malay, Nepali, Sinhala, Tamil, Khmer, Lao, Burmese and Dzongkha. Switch language from the selector in the header.

TeraSender accepts individual files up to 25 GB. Total storage is 1 TB on the Pro plan and 10 GB on the Free plan, so a single 25 GB file is fine on Pro but exceeds the free allowance.

The Free plan allows up to 10 files and the Pro plan up to 100. You can add several files to one transfer and they will share a single download link.

Yes. TeraSender's free plan allows up to 10 GB of total storage, which is well beyond the 2 GB ceiling common on free tiers elsewhere. No payment card is needed to use it.

Compress the folder into a single ZIP archive and upload that. Sending one archive preserves your folder structure and is usually faster than uploading many small files individually.

Most email providers reject attachments larger than about 25 MB, because attachments are encoded into the message itself and inflate roughly 33% in the process. A transfer service avoids the limit entirely: the file is uploaded once and the email carries only a short link.

Yes. TeraSender does not re-encode, compress or alter your files — the recipient downloads the exact bytes you uploaded. With a 25 GB per-file ceiling this covers most raw footage, ProRes exports and finished deliverables.

Until the expiry date you set when creating the transfer, which defaults to 7 days. When a transfer expires, TeraSender deletes the files from storage and the download link stops working.

Yes. You pick the expiry date on every transfer before sending, on both the Free and Pro plans. Expiry is required rather than optional — no TeraSender link lives forever.

Yes. Open the transfer in your dashboard and revoke it. The link stops working immediately, even if the expiry date has not been reached. This is the fastest fix if you sent a link to the wrong person.

Yes, if you enable download notifications on the transfer. TeraSender then emails you each time a recipient downloads it, and your dashboard shows a running download count for every transfer.

There is no download cap. A link can be used as many times as needed until it expires or you revoke it. TeraSender records the number of downloads so you can spot a link being shared more widely than you intended.

Yes. When a transfer contains several files, the download page offers a single ZIP containing all of them, as well as the option to download files individually.

TeraSender permanently deletes the files from storage and the download link stops resolving. Expired storage directories are cleaned up on a schedule as well. Expired transfers no longer count against your plan's storage allowance.

TeraSender encrypts files in transit and at rest, supports password-protected download links, enforces an expiry date on every transfer and deletes files permanently once that date passes. Download URLs use long random tokens and are excluded from search indexing, so a transfer is only reachable by someone you gave the link to.

No. TeraSender does not use customer files to train AI models and does not share them with third parties for that purpose. This is the main reason many people moved to TeraSender after the 2025 dispute over WeTransfer's terms of service.

Turn on encryption while creating the transfer and set a password. TeraSender stores only a bcrypt hash of it, never the password itself, and the recipient must enter it before the download starts. Send the password through a different channel than the link — a password in the same email protects nothing.

It cannot be recovered. TeraSender stores a one-way bcrypt hash rather than the password, so nobody — including TeraSender — can read it back. Create a new transfer with a new password instead.

TeraSender is built around GDPR-aligned practices: data minimisation, a defined retention period tied to each transfer's expiry, deletion on expiry, and account deletion on request. The privacy policy sets out the full detail of what is stored and why.

It is not practical. TeraSender download links use long random tokens rather than sequential IDs, and robots.txt excludes them from search indexing so they will not surface in search results. Adding a password gives you a second layer if the link itself leaks.

Delete your account from the Profile page in your dashboard. This removes your account and its associated data. If you only want to remove a single transfer, revoke or delete that transfer instead.

Create a voucher in TeraSender and send the voucher link to the person sending you files. They upload directly into your account through that link. This is the reverse of a normal transfer and avoids the usual problem of the other side needing their own account.

A voucher is an invitation that lets someone upload files into your account without having an account of their own, and without you sharing any login credentials. It is designed for collecting deliveries from clients, contractors and research partners.

No. The guest opens the voucher link, adds their files and uploads. They never register, and they never see anything in your account beyond the upload form.

Yes. Vouchers carry their own expiry and can be revoked from your dashboard at any time, exactly like a normal transfer. Expired and revoked vouchers stop accepting uploads immediately.

Yes. TeraSender emails you when someone uploads files through one of your vouchers, so you know a delivery has arrived without having to check the dashboard.

TeraSender splits every upload into chunks and tracks which chunks completed, so an interrupted upload resumes from the last finished chunk instead of restarting the file. A brief network drop will not cost you a multi-gigabyte re-upload.

No. Uploading happens in your browser, so closing the tab cancels the transfer. TeraSender warns you before you leave the page mid-upload. You can navigate between pages inside TeraSender while an upload runs — just keep the tab open until every file reaches 100%.

Upload speed is usually limited by your connection's upload bandwidth, which on most home and office plans is far lower than the download speed. For multi-gigabyte transfers a wired Ethernet connection is noticeably more stable than Wi-Fi and avoids repeated chunk retries.

You have hit your plan's file count or storage allowance — 10 files and 10 GB on Free, 100 files and 1 TB on Pro. Let old transfers expire, delete transfers you no longer need, or upgrade to Pro. Expired transfers do not count against the allowance.

Yes. TeraSender uploads multiple files in parallel by default and groups them into one transfer with a single download link. If your connection is unstable you can disable parallel uploading in Advanced settings so files upload one at a time.

Yes. TeraSender runs in any modern browser, including mobile browsers on iOS and Android, with no app to install. For very large uploads a desktop machine on a wired connection is more reliable.

TeraSender Pro is $5 per month or $50 per year. The yearly plan saves $10 compared with paying monthly. Both include 100 files and 1 TB of storage; both renew automatically until cancelled.

Free covers 10 files and 10 GB of total storage. Pro covers 100 files and 1 TB. Encryption, password protection, custom expiry dates, notifications and vouchers are available on both — Pro raises the volume limits rather than unlocking the security features.

Cancel from the Subscription page in your account. You keep Pro access until the end of the billing period you have already paid for, and nothing renews after that. Your account reverts to the Free plan rather than being closed.

Cancelling stops auto-renewal and you retain Pro access for the remainder of the period you paid for. See the refund policy for the circumstances in which a refund is issued, or contact support about a specific charge.

Payments are handled by Stripe, so the card types Stripe supports in your country are accepted. TeraSender never sees or stores your full card details — they go directly to Stripe.

TeraSender allows larger single files (25 GB) and 1 TB total on a $5/month plan, includes password protection, custom expiry and guest vouchers rather than reserving them for higher tiers, and commits to never using customer files for AI training. Recipients need no account on either service.

Use cloud storage when you need files to live somewhere permanently and stay in sync. Use TeraSender when you need to hand a large file to someone once: nothing is added to a shared drive, the recipient needs no account, the link expires on a date you choose and the files are then deleted.
